journey

As most people that do know me, would know my deep appreciation for music, some good, some bad, some to the point you’d be wondering “Ian, you’re fucking deaf.”

In saying so, someone whom appreciates music just as much as me, Kevin once chunned that listening to all sorts would allow you to understand the true meaning behind every word, lyric, bass, hook, bridge, beat. In one word, the soul of a piece of work.

And we aren’t just talking about the classics, like Frank Sinatra, The Temptations, The beatles, Mozart or these iconic musical figures, but music that just hits you right at your soul, strikes a chord, moves you.

Such examples of iconic masterpieces in my book would be Oasis’s Whatever / Talk tonight and Take Me away. Their lyrics, often in riddles dies get to me as you hear and read the lyrics at the same time, most songs do anyway.

Continuing in the rock genres would be The Killers, and as my housemates would tell you, they’ve heard rendeitions of their songs, with the Ian Da Luz campos touch.

Then there’s the sad/sappy/softfie side of me, my array of ballads, which at times is rather embarrassing when someone comes in and wondering “N’Sync? Westlife?”. Well, there always a song for every moment, but especially this gebre. To me; Hope, euphoria of being and falling in love, the sadness and despair of forbidden love, love that wasn’t meant to be.

And even, trance. Yea, the state of ntrance at this moment is really crap. Don’t know why I’m getting into this genre right now. Even so, m listening to the classicslike Tiesto, Armin van Vuuren, Paul van Dyk, when this genre was still rather underground. Well, certain tracks like, tiesto’s “Sparkles” or “Vinama”, intoxicated or otherwise, does sets me on a trip. I’ll just close my eyes and let myself be enveloped by the loops, syns.

Just imagine Moby’s Procelien video; a retrospective on your life, moments in which you just wanna close your eyes and wish you could relive it over and over again.

I wasn’t stoned or smashed when writing this, had always wanted to write a iece on my passion. I finally could today, had an epithany while listening through random tracks. Music is just that for me.

Sometimes ...

“Just when it falls apart
And when it's time to start
Will you sit down here for another day
And when it's time to be
All the things that we
Are wishing away for another day

Cos me in my soul we know where we're going
We're goin where the grass is green, the air is clean and the good times are growin'
So take me awayJust for today
Cos I'm sat here on my own
I'd like to be
Under the sea
Where they'd probably need a phone

And just when it falls apart
And just when it's time to start
Will you sit down here for another day

Cos me in my soul we know where we're going
We're goin where the grass is green, the air is clean and the good times are growin'
So take me awayJust for today
Cos I'm sat here on my own

I'd like to be
Under the sea
Where they'd probably need a phone

I could be you
If I wanted to
But I've never got the time
You could be me
And pretty soon you will be
But you're gonna need a line “

sigh

“As I walk this land of broken dreams
I have visions of many things
But happiness is just an illusion
Filled with sadness and confusion …”

Sometimes life throws you something you’d least expect. Something so out of the status quo that you think ‘’Nah, that isn’t ment for me’ and you move on with life, having tings as it were. Then life throws you the same thing again after a period of time, and before you could say anything about it it hits back at you .. really hard. And you’d wonder, what would’ve been?

I know I am writing in riddles and being very vague, but I guess this would be only way for me to say it.

The first goodbyes...

I hate goodbyes, nobody does, and I guess in a way, this would be the first few inklings of thoughts that are to be coming out inthe next few weeks/months...

This goodbye? Well, would be Fiona Enright, my notetaker. Well, this individual wouldn't be just someone you'd come across once upon a time in your life and forget as you move on.

Aprt from another one, she'd b definately be quantified as someone as I regard as being a friend. Not only does she notetake for me which would be the primary reson why I've encountered her during my studies here, but as time has progressed, we've build up a plutonic one, though at most times it has brief, but I guess it would be the little things that rules above all, the bit of conversation when she drops me back home after night lectures, we ditching a lect if it's boring (disclaimer; which is seldom).. she's cool basically (if I maybe abit ol' foggy sounding).

So tonight would be her last note taking session with me. On the ride back I just fely kinda outta it, and I don't know where she picked it up, that vibe, but she noticed it as well.

I'm always appreciative of comon cross people who have thatquirky triats about 'em, something that make you want to know more about them.

All in all, it was a simple goodbye....

Copa Mundial

yes, as anybody besides someonewho'd be living under a rock for the last few years would know, World cup 2006 in Germany is upon thee. And like any other football nut would know but wouldn't dare say it, everything else would secondary. thus, I am contemplating to watch all 64 games again as I did in World Cup 2002. I have also planned to take either the morning or the afternoon flight back home to Singapore as well, so as not to miss, truely the beautiful game, am lso thinking of turning this blog into a world cup page of sorts.... 8shudder*

In any case, thre's nothing much to write about over here at this moment, am somewhat under the weayjer though, but it's all good....

Thought I get into the mood of the spectacle of 22 grown men chasing a ball, accompanied by afew billion other ardents screaming at them... like wise...

Extremely important advice and recommendations to be passed on to wives, girlfriends, fiancés, mothers, sisters, daughters, etc. (to all women in general) These rules are to be communicated prior to the World Cup in June/July this year... FAILURE TO ADHERE TO THE RULES STIPULATED AS PER BELOW WILL RESULT IN SEVERE REPERCUSSIONS. List Of Rules.

1. From 9 June to 9 July 2006, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.

2. During the World Cup, the television is mine, at all times, without any exceptions. If you even take a glimpse of the remote control, you will lose it (your eye).

3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don't mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. If you decide to stand without clothes in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I wont have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.

4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby that just fell from the second floor....it wont happen.

5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least 2 six packs in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 12am and 6am, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day. This rule however is discretionary. (please refer to rule 2)

6. Please, please, please!! if you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say "get over it, its only a game", or "don't worry, they'll win next time". If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about football than me and your so called "words of encouragement" will only lead to a break up or divorce (not necessarily in that order).

7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during halftime but only when the commercials are on, and only if the halftime score is pleasing me. In addition, please note I am saying "one" game, hence do not use the World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to "spend time together".

8. The replays of the goals are very important. I don't care if I have seen them or I haven't seen them, I want to see them again. Many times.

9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:

a) I will not go,
b) I will not go, and
c) I will not go.

10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house on a Sunday to watch a game, we will be there in a flash.

11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying "but you have already seen this...why don't you change the channel to something we can all watch??", the reply will be: "Refer to Rule #2 of this list".
12. And finally, please save your expressions such as "Thank God the World Cup is only every 4 years". I am immune to these words, because after this comes the Champions League, Italian League, Spanish League, Premier League, etc etc.Thank you for your cooperation.

Regards,
Men of the World

Serial Nudger

IaNNeH - When you get to where you wanna go, and you know the things you wanna know, you’ll be smiling …

It has been brought up to my attention that I’ve been using the “nudge” function on my MSN inappropriately, not by just one individual but by afew peers. I do apologise for such gross misuse, as indeed I do not know of such protocol in using this function…

;p

Off to bed… night world...
